Services

SCDS has carried out more than 100 digital imaging projects on several industrial and non-industrial domains around the world over the past decade.

SCDS developed dedicated applications for a multitude of industrial and non-industrial domains such as:

Air Vehicles

Architecture

Artefacts Archiving

Bridges and Viaducts

Construction QA Engineering Audit

- Evaluating the consistency of the main structural elements during the construction process
- Verifications before and after installing the main services, e.g., elevators
- Interference checking, QA and Engineering Audit of sub-contractors
- Producing accurate, HD and rapid plans and elevations
- Providing easyBIM tools
- Fast analyses of cladding Primary/Secondary Structures and Tertiary Members applying to both flat and curved facades/designs
- Adjusting the cladding fixation members to existing 'As-Built' facades
- Computationally efficient functions for fixation members based on pre-defined grid positions
- Automatic 3D model generation of grid positions and fixation members of variable lengths
- Creating simulations of cladding construction/installation process, where the curtain designs are 'digitally' installed on 'As-Build' facade models
- Real-Time Monitoring and QC during the curtain installation
- Spatial and Non-Spatial Data Management
- Tri-dimensional digital archives
- Documenting the existing buildings for restoration and/or expansion projects
- Urban topography
- Virtual reality

Historic and Heritage Preservation:

- Studying, documenting, classifying and promoting the cultural, architectural and archeological heritage
- Accurate records of rapidly deteriorating sites can be saved for posterity; collecting accurate data and collating it into global databases of related sites, monuments and objects, with relevant information including actual state, surroundings, external and internal features, 2D/3D models, plans and drawings, rendering and animation
- Creating comprehensive base datasets by which site managers, archaeologists, and conservators can monitor sites and perform necessary conservation and restoration work to ensure physical site integrity
- Creating new ways to document historic sites/artifacts and to make this data more accessible, to preserve visual and technical components, and to enhance the documenting standards
- Archaeological analysis

Plants, Refineries, Off-shore Oil Platforms, Vessels:

- Advanced As-Built modeling
- Accurate methodology for Structural Inspection and Monitoring with current environmental condition quantification
- Efficient and smooth integration of as-built model with design tools for optimized engineering and improved design
- Reducing the risk of construction interferences, detecting the clashes with congested areas and solving contractors' interface issues
- Improved safety by reducing site (re)visits and site hazard exposure
- Identifying and correcting critical equipment installation problems

Transportation:

- Road topo for design/problem analysis and road surveys/monitoring without lane closure
- Pavement QA, volumetry and quantities via surface and profile collection; input to road milling and cambering
- Slope stability and retaining walls evaluation and monitoring
- Accident investigation and analysis by capturing data without disturbing the scene; structural damage analysis
- As-builts for decks, undersides, piers, abutments, caps, railings and structural elements
- Construction as-builts for inaccessible structures
- Road or road/rail intersection surveys without disturbing the traffic
- Track, signaling and utilities capturing
- Heritage landmarks for preservation and retrofit projects
- Production of as-built 2D/3D drawings of existing structures either via 2D/3D tracing or directly from point clouds; a major argument in favor of 3D laser scanning for documenting bridge structures is that risks associated with hands-on site exposure are considerably reduced
- Verification/production of shop-drawings for steel repairs where site access is extremely difficult or impractical
- Establishing a bench mark of pre-existing shape/state in order to detect structural changes resulting from exposure to extreme loadings such as thermal, earthquake, vessel/truck impact or fire.

- Accurate Tri-Dimensional Replication of As-Built Ships
- Deriving the physical instability and deviations directly from the raw data (collected point clouds)
- Very fast creation of accurate geometries, which are perfectly suitable for FEA/CFD
- 2D/3D Modeling of Hull, Engine Room, Decks, Pilot House
- Interior Design and Layout Modeling
- Meshing for Structural/Dynamic Analysis and Simulation, Design and Construction
- Repairs, Upgrades, Ships Retrofit, Restoration, Re-engining
